San Francisco - Winter Holiday Party
Robert College Alumni Association of America (RCAAA) hosted a Holiday Party in San Francisco on December 15. Over 30 alumni from around the Bay Area showed up to celebrate the New Year with drinks and appetizers. The event was held at the downtown home of RC alumni Eylul Kayin (RC ‘08) and Can Efeoglu (RC ‘09). Everyone had a great time, as the crowd stayed an hour past the end and ensured that no food was left over! Organizers Can Akçevin (RC ‘09), Hayal Koç (RC ‘98) and Sanem Alkan (RC ‘90) hope to plan more alumni events in the future.

San Francisco - Bar Night Fall
RCAAA in San Francisco had another crowded Bar Night on October 10th at City Beer Store in San Francisco. This was the second of many Bar Nights alumni leaders Sanem Alkan, Hayal Koc, Nese Ozler & Can Akçevin are excited to host in San Francisco. It was great to see more new faces at this event. It seems like San Francisco alumni crowd will continue to grow in the future with more alumni moving to Bay Area.

San Francisco - World Cup Breakfast
San Francisco Bay Area Alumni met on July 15th to watch the World Cup Final game together. Despite an early start time of 8:00 on a Sunday morning, over 30 alumni came out to catch up with friends, make new connections and enjoy a delicious traditional Turkish breakfast prepared by alumni chef Sayat Ozyilmaz (RC ‘04). Everyone had a great time, as the crowd stayed an hour past the end of the game & ensured that no food was left over! Organizers Hayal Koc (RC’98) and Nese Ozler (RC’03) hope to plan many more young alumni events in the future.
San Francisco Bay Area - Bar Night
On February 11, a truly diverse group of RC alumni ranging from 1960 to 2016 graduates, with all sorts of professional and personal interests, came together at RC ’90 alumnae Sanem Alkan’s home in Los Gatos. RC ’04 alumnus Sayat Ozyilmaz, our school's only professional chef alumni as far as we know, prepared delicious appetizers while entertaining guests in the kitchen. Coincidentally, two alumni from Florida and Washington D.C. were visiting the Bay Area and could join the evening as well.
Besides toasting to existing and new friendships, we celebrated a great milestone for our chef at this event: As you may have read in past RC Quarterly articles, Sayat and Laura have been telling the story of "an Istanbul that could have been" through their ticketed pop-up dinners inspired by the cuisines of the various regions that the Ottoman Empire had influence over. With that perspective, this chef duo is in the process of creating an unprecedented fine casual dining model to disrupt the traditional casual guest experience. Their food will be vegetable-forward, health-conscious, yet decadent, and inspired by the Eastern Mediterranean with California sensibility.
As Bay Area residents, we are grateful for our regular access to Sayat and Laura’s delicious cooking. We hope many other RC alumni can visit SF Bay and experience the same.

San Francisco Bay Area - Holiday Party Winter 2015
Over twenty RC Alumni in the San Francisco Bay Area gathered on December 18, 2015 to celebrate the holidays. Our group in this region has grown rapidly over the past couple of years and includes business leaders, engineers, marketing and operations managers as well as venture capitalists in this area. Since Silicon Valley has been leading global innovation over the past few years, we are excited to have such a diverse and dynamic network of friends and colleagues who exchange ideas about local opportunities and stay in touch. We plan to get together as a group two or three times a year at a minimum, in addition to attending formal alumni local events organized by RCAAA. Those interested in hearing more about local events can follow RC mailings or contact RCAAA at nyoffice@robcol.org for details.
